Collaborative Research Fellowship

Public Announcement

The National Endowment for the Humanities is pleased to announce the open, merit-based competition for Collaborative Humanities Research Fellowships for the academic year 2008-2009. Post-doctoral scholars from the United States in the humanities may apply for collaborative research opportunities at universities and institutes in any country of East-Central Europe and New Independent States (NIS) of the former Soviet Union.

Topics are not restricted to regional or area studies; however, the project must involve at least one collaborator from the region and research in the region itself. Candidates must have a working knowledge of one or more of the languages of East-Central Europe or the NIS, unless they can demonstrate that their research does not require it. Especially encouraged are applications with a strong regional focus and the potential to broaden and strengthen international academic linkages beyond the traditional centers such as Moscow, St. Petersburg, Warsaw, and Prague.

The National Endowment for the Humanities manages this program with funding allocated by the Congress of the United States. The NEH Collaborative Humanities Fellowship Program is administered by the American Councils for International Education: ACTR/ACCELS (American Councils) in collaboration with the National Council for Eurasian and East European Research (NCEEER).

All applications will be reviewed and evaluated in the United States by at least two regional specialists and considered by a selection committee likewise composed of regional specialists.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS:

February 15, 2008
