Problems of Post-Communism

NCEEER has editorial responsibility for Problems of Post-Communism. NCEEER joins in this endeavor with M.E. Sharpe, Inc., which has published the journal since 1994.

NCEEER is, among national research organizations, the largest provider of support for American scholars seeking to undertake postdoctoral research in the humanities and social sciences in the countries of the former Soviet Union (FSU) and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). NCEEER publishes annually 25-30 research reports from its grantee-scholars that are currently available to the U.S. government and the public upon request. The editorship of Problems of Post-Communism strengthens and deepens NCEEER's commitment to the support and publication of high-quality, peer-review research for both scholarly and policy-making purposes. Although support for research on Communist and post-Communist countries outside the former Soviet Union and Central and Eastern Europe has not been a principal part of NCEEER activities, we are committed to sustaining and enhancing the journal's achievements in these areas.

NCEEER is directed by Dr. Robert T. Huber, who also serves as the editor of Problems of Post-Communism. The associate editor is Professor Ronald Linden of the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Ann Robertson serves as the managing editor, and NCEEER senior program officer, Dana Ponte, serves as the editorial assistant. Seven scholars serve on the editorial board of the journal.

Articles typically run 20-25 double-spaced pages (6,000-7,000 words) INCLUDING notes. Published articles use Chicago-style endnotes, but authors need not reformat their references while a paper is under review. All foreign-language citations must include English translations.

Problems of Post-Communism uses a double-blind, peer-review process to select published articles. Submissions may be submitted electronically to popc@nceeer.org or by mail to the following address:
